RAPS is a road and pedestrian safety incursion for children kindy to year 4. Our programme was developed in 1998 in response to accidents involving young children as pedestrians in NSW. After assessment by the Department of education the RAPS programme commenced in 2000 in primary schools. To date the programme has done over 22,000 children and over 210 schools.

RAPS FOR KIDS is committed to the promotion of pedestrian safety for school age children by fostering awareness of the dangers of being a pedestrian and giving direction to becoming and remaining safe pedestrians.

The programme is designed to complement established school road safety programs. The program promotes learning by practical experience.

RAPS FOR KIDS is a mobile traffic course consisting of working traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, ‘children crossing’ signs, flags and ‘lolly pop’ pedestrian signs.

The mobile unit also involves the use of battery operated go karts.

With your years 5 and 6 as helpers for the day the promotion of STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, THINK is role played in groups which consists of 40 children per hour
