Our Association is committed to upholding the rights of children and adults with Down syndrome and ensuring that their needs and those of their families are met. Through it’s current activities, DSAQ works for a better quality of life for people with Down syndrome by supporting and strengthening families and promoting positive and realistic images of people with Down syndrome.
We provide support to teachers and schools/organisations to ensure that students with Down syndrome are maximising their educational outcomes.
We provide the following services to Schools:
Services provided by the education consultant include:
– Annual 2-day education conference in Brisbane which brings together experts in the education of students with Down syndrome
– Education workshops and one-day conferences throughout Queensland
– In-house professional development
– School visits (Please email the Education Consultant at education@dsaq.org.au for further information)
– The development of resources to support the education of students with Down syndrome
– General phone and email support from the Education Consultant and other specialised staff
We have a library plus a variety of online resources, and other resources such as pencil grips, scissors, slope boards, sensory toys and more. You can also purchase a range of resources developed by DSAQ including Reading Our Way, the Enabled Learning book series, fine motor kits and primary resource kits.
